Info-trip through the DKMT-Euroregion, route for wine and gastronomy
The south-eastern part of Hungary, comprising the Csongrád county, is absolutely flat. This is part of the larger Pannonian Plains; even in this flat landscape they are many geo-morphological accidents, so the plains can look quite differently from one place to the other: some parts are very good for agriculture, with a rich black soil, others are marshy and others yet can be very sandy. The village of Pusztamérges is placed in one of this sandy regions. There is not so much agriculture here (much of this sands are planted with trees like accacia in orther to keep the sand from shifting place at each wind blow), but a local type of Riesling thrives on the sandy soil. Tourism here is not fancy at all, but rather rustical; the services are decent, but the travel industry has not spoiled the village life. Inside the "Farkas" cellar it was quite cold, but the prsented dry white wines were good, nevertheless.
