Info-trip through the DKMT-Euroregion, route for wine and gastronomy
Our company Tymes Tours / Tymes Globetrotter SRL was chosen as the "expert in the tourism industry" for the Timiş County Council in a project of the DKMT-Euroregion. It was a typical project of promoting an area as a travel destination. In this case it was about the DKMT, a trans-border region comprising areas from Romania, Hungary and Serbia. The Banat region (the "Romanian Banat", as well as the "Serbian Banat") make out the largest part of the euroregion, covering more than a half of its surface.
The project was themed on "routes for wine and gastronomy". But few European regions have such multicultural features – and this multicultural side shows itself in the Banat kitchens, too, then the Hungarian Goulash is a good neighbour to the Austrian plum-dumplings, and the Romanian cabbage-rolls ("sarmale") to the Serbian "gibanica" (a kind of burek). The project team made an info-trip at the beginning of March 2012, checking the selected destinations from the counties Timiş (RO), Arad (RO) and Csongrád (HU). Our company Tymes Tours was the only participant from the private sector, all the others were coming from the local administration of the respective counties. This was a good chance for us to be up-dated with the latest developments in the field of regional wines and cuisine.
In the picture on the left we see the wine barrels made out of oak (the "bariques") of the wine producer Petro Vaselo from the village with (almost) the same name, Petrovaselo, in the Timis county.
